| Scope: | 1.1 This specification covers the use of plastic temporary ceiling construction barriers intended for installation on the underside of the roof or ceiling and below automatic sprinklers, during construction or renovation activities. 1.1.1 These plastic temporary ceiling construction barriers are composed of a number of panels of the same composition connected by seams. 1.2 These plastic temporary ceiling construction barriers are intended to protect equipment, occupants, and workers from dust or light debris resulting from the construction or repair work. 1.3 These plastic temporary ceiling construction barriers are intended to provide a critical safety feature that allows continued business operations during construction or renovation activities. 1.4 These plastic temporary ceiling construction barriers are not intended to protect from heavy falling debris. 1.5 These plastic temporary ceiling construction barriers are required to comply with applicable fire test standards so as not to cause increased fire hazard. 1.6 These plastic temporary ceiling construction barriers are also permitted to be installed above sprinkler systems. 1.7 Units—The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system are not necessarily exact equivalents; therefore, to ensure conformance with the standard, each system shall be used independently of the other, and values from the two systems shall not be combined. 1.8 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. Note 1: There is no known ISO equivalent to this standard. 1.9 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee. |
