1.1 This guide is intended to assist in the selection of walkway surfaces and treatments where the reasonably foreseeable presence of aggressive contaminants produces the risk of a fall event(s) in commercial and industrial environments (not including construction work), for persons wearing appropriate footwear. These guidelines may not be adequate for those with certain mobility impairments.

1.2 Administrative controls such as written safety policies, rules, supervision, schedules, and training are not addressed in this standard.

1.3 Personal protective equipment (PPE) is not addressed in this standard except as noted herein.
