| Resumen: | his document provides guidelines for the effective, species- and animal-friendly hunting of wild ruminants. It contains recommendations for hunting seasons based on scientific and practical findings with regard to wildlife biology, wildlife ecology, wild influence and thus damage minimization, nature conservation and animal welfare. In formulating this document, three biological phenomena in the annual cycle of native wild ruminants determine the guidelines: a) the winter metabolic reduction (physiological hibernation); b) the deficit of energy reserves in spring and c) the mating season (birth) of young animals in spring and early summer. These three sensitive phases in the annual cycle, in addition to the rearing period (lactation and guiding) of the young animals, which differs significantly between species, form the essential basis for a uniform definition of hunting and closed seasons for wild ruminants for reasons of wildlife biology and ecology, but also for animal welfare reasons. |
