| Resumen: | This document specifies requirements for the provision of a high quality conference interpreting service by individuals and provides guidance for users of conference interpreting services. This document does not apply, for example, to agencies or in-house departments. For the purposes of this document, conference interpreting includes not only interpreting into spoken languages but also interpreting into sign languages and interpreting from a spoken or sign language into written language. This document describes the competences and qualifications required to exercise the profession of conference interpreting and defines the professional and ethical framework for conference interpreting. For this purpose the activities and tasks of conference interpreters are described, the various interpreting modes commonly used at conferences are specified, and the requirements for education and training for this field of work are described. This is done with a view to the quality of the service and the presentation of core competencies. |
