| Resumen: | This document is applicable for measurement of optical fibers for image and data transmission (distances up to approx. 100 m) as well as for (power) transmission of light and optical radiation ranging from the ultraviolet to the near infrared part of the light spectrum. This document is not applicable for fiber optic components and products intended for telecommunication and data transmission over distances > 100 m. The purpose of this document is to define a uniform method for determining the total diameter of an optical fiber including applied coatings as well as core diameter, cladding diameter, and layer thickness of inner and outer coating layers, respectively. |
