| Resumen: | The steer-by-Wire technology enables innovative interior design concepts and contributes significantly supports the introduction of functions for automated driving. Substantial and new requirements regarding the safety concept for the vehicle are requested by the replacement of well-known and well stablished mechanical steering systems to ensure safe vehicle operation. This document specifies relevant safety requirements for steer-by-wire-systems for passenger vehicles and light duty commercial vehicles in series-production vehicles. Starting with possible failure categories, advices are given for the construction and development to enable controllability in case of failures within such a steering system. Furthermore, it describes the operational behavior after a possible failure (degradation concept). |
