Resumen:	Shim rings are used for the precise positional fixing of machine parts in the axial direction. They are preferably used to compensate for play in the axial fixing of machine parts by means of retaining rings to DIN 471 and DIN 472, DIN 983 and DIN 984 and lock washers to DIN 6799. Support washers are used in conjunction with retaining rings or lock washers when there is a risk of the retaining rings or lock washers being overturned by large axial forces as a result of edge rounding or chamfers on the machine parts. Support washers can also be used together with shim rings. This document specifies the dimensional requirements and technical delivery conditions for shim rings and support washers and gives their designation. The responsible standardization body is the working committee NA 067-00-11 AA "Washers and rings" in the FMV.
