| Resumen: | This standard specifies a test method for determining the long term durability of an adhesive system using the reinforced double cantilever beam specimen subjected to environmental and fatigue loads. The test is performed on specimens consisting of thin gauge metal substrates with a pre-starter crack. Reinforcement bars are bonded on to the metal substrates to reinforce the joint preventing permanent deformation of the beams. The test is applicable to aluminium alloy and steel substrates This test method may be used to determine: - the fatigue crack growth rate as a function of the mode I strain energy release rate - The threshold values for crack growth arrest - the effect of temperature, environment, and other service parameters, on these properties. |
