| Resumen: | This document specifies a method for the detection of cellulose-containing foods treated with ionizing radiation. In this method, the ESR (electron spin resonance), also known as EPR (electron paramagnetic resonance) spectrum of the food is analyzed. Interlaboratory tests were successfully performed on pistachio shells, paprika powder and fresh strawberries. However, it has been shown that chemical bleaching of nuts in shells can result in comparable signals. Further information on the limitations of the method can be found in the document. |
