Resumen: in the area of odour emissions (OGC emissions). Catalytic converters are now available from a number of manufacturers for the retrofitting of fireplaces, particularly in existing buildings. Since the emission reduction performance is influenced by the flue gas composition and the flue gas volume flow, and these parameters depend on the type and operation of the fireplace on the one hand and the fuel on the other hand, uniform test criteria are required in order to be able to compare the emission reduction performance of different catalytic converters. The purpose of this document is to define test procedures for determining the emission reduction performance of catalysts for domestic solid fuel fireplaces (single room furnaces according to the 1. BImSchV). This document was prepared by the working committee NA 040-01-01 AA of the FNH in DIN e.V. and is first published here as a Technical Specification (DIN TS). In particular, the composition of the raw test gases for determining the emission reduction performance, taking into account various parameters, requires further investigation and the test procedure as such requires validation. This document covers catalysts for residential solid fuel local space heaters of the EN 16510 series with a maximum rated thermal input of 15 kW, installed directly downstream of the fireplace, i.e. connected directly to the flue. The catalysts shall have a bypass (minimum free cross-section as part of the product) of at least the dimension specified in DIN EN 16510-1:2023-02, 4.4.10 for damper devices in the flue gas path. This document specifies the requirements for the test set-up, the provision of the test flue gas, the execution of the test and the necessary measurement technology for the determination of the emission reduction performance of downstream catalytic converters for residential wood-burning appliances. The document applies to catalysts that can be combined as individual components, e. g. with existing fireplaces, and does not apply to catalysts that are part of a fireplace. The location of the catalysts is directly at the flue outlet of the fireplace and is specified in detail by the manufacturer. This standard does not apply to - Catalysts that are not installed directly downstream - Catalysts without a bypass or with a bypass that opens in the event of an increased pressure drop - Catalysts for other solid fuel appliances - Catalysts for fuels other than wood logs and wood briquettes
